Description
Paraivongius akaensis is a member of the leaf‑beetle group that feeds on plant foliage. Detailed morphological characteristics are given in Selman’s original description, which includes measurements of the elytra, coloration, and genitalia typical for species in the genus Paraivongius.
Distribution and Habitat
The species has been recorded only from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, specifically from the Garamba National Park region (type locality “Inimvua”). It inhabits savanna and forested habitats within the park, where host plants of the Eumolpinae are present.
Ecology
As a leaf beetle, P. akaensis is phytophagous, feeding on the leaves of its host plants. Specific host‑plant associations have not been extensively documented in the literature.
Conservation Status
No formal assessment of the conservation status of Paraivongius akaensis has been published. Its known occurrence is limited to a protected area, which may afford some degree of habitat security.
