Palm Gardens is an unincorporated community in Clark County, Nevada, United States. It is a small planned community located along U.S. Route 95, approximately 70 miles from downtown Las Vegas and 0.6 miles from the California border.
Geography and Location
The community is situated in southern Nevada near the California state line. Its ZIP code is 89039, and it falls within area codes 702 and 725. The coordinates are 35°11′53″N 114°51′29″W. Just to the south lies the intersection of U.S. Route 95 and Nevada State Route 163. Approximately 1.7 miles to the north is the Southern Nevada Visitor Center.
History
Development of Palm Gardens began in the 1990s. A Chevron gas station with a Chevron Food Mart convenience store was built in 1999. The community was originally planned to include 90 constructed homes, but further development was delayed due to the Great Recession, the death of a contractor, and environmental concerns regarding desert tortoises in the area.
As of 2021, the community contained only 33 built homes and 53 total residential plots. The Chevron convenience store in the community is notable for its collection of pop culture memorabilia, which is unusually extensive for a convenience store.
Demographics and Economy
Palm Gardens remains a very small, sparsely populated community. Real estate listings indicate a modest housing market with relatively low median home prices compared to the Las Vegas metropolitan area.
