Pa Socheatvong

Pa Socheatvong (born 1957) is a Cambodian politician affiliated with the Cambodian People's Party (CPP). He has held several senior administrative positions within the government of Cambodia.

Political career

  • Governor of Kandal Province – Pa Socheatvong served as the governor of Kandal Province from 2008 until his appointment as mayor of the capital city in 2013.
  • Mayor of Phnom Penh – In April 2013, he was appointed mayor of Phnom Penh, the capital and largest city of Cambodia. During his tenure, he oversaw various urban development projects, including infrastructure upgrades, the expansion of the city’s public transportation system, and initiatives aimed at improving sanitation and flood management. Pa Socheatvong remained in this role until 2017, when he was succeeded by a new mayor appointed by the CPP leadership.

Pa Socheatvong is a member of the Cambodian People's Party, the dominant political party in Cambodia since the early 1990s.
