Ovacık is a neighbourhood (formerly classified as a village) situated within the central district of Karabük Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Karabük municipality.
Geography
- Located in the western part of the province, Ovacı k lies in a region characterized by a mixed forested and agricultural landscape.
- The settlement is positioned at an elevation of approximately 400 meters above sea level.
Administrative status
- Prior to the 2013 administrative reorganisation in Turkey, Ovacık held the status of a village (köy). After the law changes, it was incorporated as a neighbourhood (mahalle) of the Karabük municipality.
Population
- According to the Address-Based Population Registration System (ADNKS) results dated 31 December 2022, the recorded population of Ovacık was 2,918 residents.
Infrastructure and services
- The neighbourhood is connected to the provincial road network, providing access to the city center of Karabük and surrounding settlements.
- Local public services include a primary school, a health clinic, and a post office.
