Orculella cretioreina

Orculella cretioreina is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Orculidae.

Taxonomy

The species was described by E. Gittenberger and B. Hausdorf in 2004. It belongs to the genus Orculella, which occurs throughout the Mediterranean region, within the family Orculidae.

Geographic Distribution

O. cretioreina is endemic to Greece, where it occurs at disjunct locations, usually at high altitudes, on the island of Crete. The species name cretioreina reflects its distribution on Crete.

Conservation Status

The species is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN 3.1), as assessed by Vardinoyannis and Triantis in 2011.
