Omneya Abdel Kawy

Omneya Abdel Kawy (born 14 January 1985) is an Egyptian former professional squash player. She competed on the Women's Squash Association (WSA) circuit from 2000 until her retirement in 2017 and achieved a career‑high world ranking of No. 4 in July 2008.

Early life and junior career
Abdel Kawy was born in Cairo, Egypt. She began playing squash at a young age and quickly emerged as one of Egypt’s leading junior talents, winning several national junior championships. Her early success earned her a place on the Egyptian junior national team, with which she competed in international junior events.

Professional career
Turning professional in 2000, Abdel Kawy entered the WSA tour and steadily rose through the rankings. Over the course of her career she won multiple PSA (Professional Squash Association) titles, including victories at the 2005 Swiss Open, the 2006 Irish Open, and the 2008 Malmo Open. Her consistent performances propelled her into the world top‑10, and she reached her highest ranking of No. 4 in July 2008.

Abdel Kawy represented Egypt in the Women’s World Team Championships on several occasions, contributing to the team’s strong showings during the 2000s and early 2010s. She also competed in a number of Commonwealth Games and World Games events, earning individual and team medals for Egypt.

Known for her powerful drives and tactical versatility, Abdel Kawy was a right‑handed player who excelled in both attacking and defensive play. Analysts frequently noted her endurance and ability to sustain long rallies at high intensity.

Retirement and legacy
Abdel Kawy announced her retirement from professional competition in 2017.
