Olympique Lillois

Definition
Olympique Lillois was a French association football club based in Lille, Nord, France. Established in 1902, the club competed in domestic competitions until its dissolution following a merger in 1944 that created Lille Olympique Sporting Club (Lille OSC).

Overview
Founded on 27 March 1902 as a multi‑sport entity, Olympique Lillois quickly became one of the leading football clubs in northern France. The team played its home matches at the Stade Henri-Jooris (originally known as Stade du Petit Marcel) and wore red and white kits. Olympique Lillois was a founding member of the professional French league (Ligue 1) and achieved notable success in the interwar period, most prominently winning the French Division 1 title in the 1932–1933 season and securing multiple Coupe de France victories (1930, 1935, and 1939). The club's prominence declined during World War II, and on 23 July 1944 it merged with SC Fives to form Lille OSC, which continues to compete in French top‑flight football.
