Overview
Narud was born in Kapp, Østre Toten, in the county of Innlandet. He entered local politics in the late 1990s, holding various positions within the municipal council before being elected mayor of Østre Toten in 2007, a post he retained through successive elections until 2021. At the national level, he was elected to the Storting (the Norwegian parliament) representing the Østre Toten constituency for the 2017–2021 term. During his tenure as mayor, Narud emphasized rural development, agricultural interests, and sustainable local services, reflecting the Centre Party’s agrarian roots. As minister, he has prioritized the expansion of railway networks, improvements to coastal and inland road safety, and the promotion of electric mobility and broadband access across Norway’s dispersed population.
