Saalfelder Höhe, including Oberhain, was then incorporated into the larger city of Saalfeld on July 6, 2018, as part of a further state-wide municipal reform in Thuringia. As a result, Oberhain is now a constituent village (Ortschaft) within the city of Saalfeld, retaining its local identity and administration through a village council.
