Oakland is a historic home located near Bryantown, Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is a two-story, three-bay brick dwelling constructed in the Federal style between 1822 and 1823. About 1880, a Greek Revival entrance and an Italianate front porch were added to the structure.
The property is situated on approximately one acre along Maryland Route 5, near the unincorporated community of Bryantown. The principal (east) facade features a large, double-leafed entrance door framed by a transom and sidelights in the northernmost bay, with the remaining bays holding nine-over-nine sash windows.
Architectural Significance: The building embodies the distinctive characteristics of Federal architecture in the Lower Southern Maryland region. The later additions of the Greek Revival entrance and Italianate front porch reflect the evolution of American architectural tastes through the 19th century.
National Register of Historic Places: Oakland was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 4, 1983, under NRHP reference number 83002946. The nomination was prepared by J. Richard Rivoire in December 1982.
Builder: The home was built by George Morton, and the property is also known historically as Morton's Mill Farm.
