Nuno Afonso (born 23 January 1974) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played primarily as a defender. Over the course of his career, he was affiliated with several clubs in Portugal’s top divisions, most notably Sporting CP, S.C. Braga, and Vitória de Setúbal. Afonso also made appearances for the Portugal national team, earning caps during the mid‑1990s. Following his retirement from playing, he has been involved in football coaching and management at various levels within the Portuguese football system.
