Nowaszyce

Nowaszyce is a village located in south-eastern Poland. It is administratively part of Gmina Kuryłówka, within Leżajsk County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). The village lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) north-east of Kuryłówka, the seat of the gmina, 13 km (8 mi) north-east of Leżajsk, the county seat, and 50 km (31 mi) north-east of the regional capital Rzeszów.

Etymology The name "Nowaszyce" is thought to have Slavic origins, possibly deriving from the Old Polish word "nowy" (new) or related to a personal name, suggesting a "new settlement" or a settlement founded by an individual whose name was associated with "new."

Geography and Administration Nowaszyce is situated in the historical region of Lesser Poland (Małopolska), within the relatively flat, often agricultural landscape characteristic of this part of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. It is one of the villages that form the Gmina Kuryłówka, a rural administrative district.
