History
The history of Nova Rosalândia is linked to the development of the Rosalândia district, which was created within the municipality of Cristalândia. Over time, the growing community sought administrative autonomy. Nova Rosalândia was officially emancipated from Cristalândia and elevated to the status of a municipality by State Law No. 251 on February 20, 1991. The "Nova" (new) prefix was added to distinguish it from the original district and signify its new administrative status.

The municipality's landscape is characterized by the transition between the Amazon biome and the Cerrado (Brazilian savanna) biome, featuring a mix of forest and open savanna vegetation. The climate is typically tropical, with a rainy season and a dry season.

The municipality's Human Development Index (HDI) is generally in the lower-middle range for Brazil, reflecting common development challenges faced by smaller municipalities in the region.
Economy
The economy of Nova Rosalândia is predominantly agricultural. Key activities include:
- Agriculture: Cultivation of various crops, with a focus on soybeans, corn, and rice.
- Livestock: Cattle ranching for meat and dairy production is also a significant economic driver.
- Small-scale commerce and services: These sectors support the local population but are less developed compared to larger urban centers.
Etymology
The name "Rosalândia" is believed to derive from either a local resident named Dona Rosalina, who was significant in the early settlement of the area, or from the abundance of wild roses (often referred to as rosas-do-campo) found in the region. The addition of "Nova" means "New," signifying its status as a new and independent municipality.
