Noor is a 2017 Indian Hindi‑language dramedy film directed by Sunhil Sippy. The screenplay was co‑written by Sippy, Althea Delmas‑Kaushal, and Shikhaa Sharma, with dialogues by Ishita Moitra Udhwani. It is an adaptation of Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz’s novel Karachi, You’re Killing Me!.
The film stars Sonakshi Sinha in the title role as Noor Roy Chaudhary, a young journalist navigating professional and personal challenges in Mumbai. Plot
Noor aspires to be a serious news reporter but is frequently assigned entertainment pieces, leading to friction with her editor, Shekhar Das. After uncovering evidence of illegal organ harvesting involving a charitable doctor, she faces threats, loses her job, and struggles with ethical dilemmas. With the help of friends Saad and Ayan, Noor ultimately publishes an exposé that results in the doctor’s conviction, securing her reputation as a respected journalist and concluding with a romantic relationship with Saad.
Production
Principal photography began in mid‑2014 at R.K. Studios in Mumbai and concluded by August 2014, with additional shooting in the United Kingdom. The film’s cinematography was handled by Keiko Nakahara, editing by Aarif Sheikh, and music composed primarily by Amaal Mallik, featuring guest contributions from Tanishk Bagchi (songs) and Benedict Taylor (background score).
