Noel Mugavin

Noel Mugavin (born 22 December 1939) is a former Australian rules footballer who played as a full-back for the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1959 to 1967.

Mugavin was recruited from North Ballarat and made his VFL debut for Richmond in 1959. He quickly established himself as a reliable and strong-marking defender, primarily playing in the full-back position. Throughout his career, he was known for his steadfast defensive work and ability to repel opposition attacks.

He played 148 VFL games for Richmond, kicking one goal. A highlight of his career was being a key member of the Richmond team that won the 1967 VFL premiership, breaking a 24-year premiership drought for the club. Mugavin played full-back in the Grand Final victory against Geelong. He retired from senior football at the end of the 1967 season, following the premiership success.
