Nishant Sindhu (born 9 February 2004) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Haryana in domestic cricket and for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is a left-arm orthodox spinner and a left-handed batsman, known for his all-round capabilities.
Early Life and Junior Cricket Sindhu was born in Rohtak, Haryana, India. He rose to prominence through age-group cricket, showcasing his talent as a promising all-rounder.
Under-19 Cricket World Cup (2022) Sindhu was a key member of the Indian team that won the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. During the tournament, he notably captained the side in two league matches when regular captain Yash Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed were sidelined due to COVID-19. In the final against England, he played a crucial unbeaten knock of 50 runs, helping India chase down the target and secure the championship.
Domestic Career Following his success at the U19 level, Sindhu made his senior domestic debut for Haryana. He has represented the state in various formats, including the Ranji Trophy (first-class), Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A), and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20). He is an integral part of Haryana's squad, contributing with both bat and ball.
Indian Premier League (IPL) In the IPL 2023 auction, Nishant Sindhu was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹60 lakh. He joined the squad of the five-time IPL champions, continuing his journey in professional cricket at one of the world's most competitive T20 leagues.
