Nir Jacob Kaplan (Hebrew: ניר יעקוב קפלן; born 8 August 1989) is an Israeli actor, entertainer, and radio presenter. He began his career as a child actor and later became known for his work on Israeli television and radio.
Early life
Kaplan was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, and grew up in Herzliya. He is the son of Lieutenant Colonel Moti Kaplan, a former military officer, and Tami Kaplan, a former Israeli Defense Forces officer who later worked as a housewife. Raised in an Orthodox Jewish household, Kaplan was identified as a gifted child at the age of five. He pursued theatrical interests over academic pursuits from an early age.
Career
Television
Kaplan’s first on‑screen role was in the children’s television series Yami (1995–1997), in which he played the character Noam. The show was popular in Israel and contributed to his early public recognition.
Radio
As an adult, Kaplan transitioned to radio, presenting the nationally syndicated program Berosh Tsair (Hebrew: בראש צעיר) on the Reshet Alef network. In this role he served as both presenter and editor, contributing to the program’s development and outreach.
Military service
During his mandatory service, Kaplan was drafted into the Israeli Military Police Corps. Details of his service have not been publicly disclosed.
Personal background
Kaplan is of Romanian‑Jewish descent and has been active in the entertainment industry from 1995 to the present.
