Nilse Hullet

Nilse Hullet is a lake or tarn located in the municipalities of Bykle and Valle in Agder county, Norway. Situated in the mountainous and rugged landscape of the Setesdalen valley system, it forms part of the headwaters of the Otra River, which flows south through Setesdal and ultimately empties into the North Sea near Kristiansand. Its approximate coordinates are 59°11′22″N 7°28′10″E.

Nilse Hullet is a component of Norway's extensive hydropower infrastructure. Like many bodies of water in the region, it is regulated for power generation, contributing to the country's hydroelectric energy supply. The lake is part of a complex system of interconnected lakes, rivers, and dams designed to harness the significant water resources of the Norwegian mountains for electricity production.

Geographically, Nilse Hullet is characteristic of a high-altitude Nordic landscape, surrounded by exposed rock, sparse alpine vegetation, and numerous other smaller lakes and streams. Its precise hydrological characteristics, such as surface area and water volume, can fluctuate significantly due to both natural seasonal variations and human regulation for energy purposes.
