Nils-Ole Book (born 17 February 1986 in Beckum, West Germany) is a German former professional footballer and current football executive. He played as a midfielder and is now the sporting director of Borussia Dortmund.
Playing Career
Book began his youth career at SpVgg Beckum before moving to LR Ahlen in 1999. He made his senior debut for LR Ahlen (2004–2006) and later played for MSV Duisburg (2006–2008), Rot Weiss Ahlen (2008–2011), and SV Wehen Wiesbaden (2011–2017). He was a youth international for Germany at the under-16 and under-21 levels.
Management and Executive Career
In September 2017, Book joined SV Elversberg as a scout. A year later, on 29 October 2018, he became the club's sporting director. In October 2022, he was promoted to the board as a member for sport, effective from the 2023–24 season. Under his sporting leadership, SV Elversberg rose from the Regionalliga Südwest (fourth tier) to the 2. Bundesliga.
In March 2026, Book became the sporting director of Borussia Dortmund, succeeding Sebastian Kehl, signing a contract until 2029.
