Nikita Vladimirovich Lyamin (Russian: Никита Владимирович Лямин; born February 14, 1985) is a Russian professional beach volleyball player. Prior to his career in beach volleyball, he played indoor volleyball.
Early Life and Indoor Volleyball Career
Born in Nizhny Novgorod, Lyamin initially competed in indoor volleyball. He played as a middle blocker for various Russian clubs, including Lokomotiv-Belogorie and Dynamo Moscow, participating in the Russian Volleyball Super League. He also represented the Russian national indoor volleyball team at junior and youth levels.
Transition to Beach Volleyball
Lyamin transitioned to beach volleyball in the early 2010s, making his FIVB World Tour debut in 2014. His significant height and blocking ability, honed during his indoor career, made him a formidable presence at the net in beach volleyball.
Beach Volleyball Career Highlights
Lyamin has achieved considerable success on the international beach volleyball circuit:
- Partnership with Dmitry Barsuk: Lyamin formed a successful partnership with Dmitry Barsuk. Together, they qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They advanced to the quarterfinals, finishing in 5th place overall, a significant achievement for the Russian team.
- Partnership with Viacheslav Krasilnikov: Following the Rio Olympics, Lyamin teamed up with Viacheslav Krasilnikov. This partnership proved highly successful, culminating in a bronze medal at the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Vienna, Austria. They also secured several medals on the FIVB World Tour.
