Nicolas William Wähling (born 24 August 1997) is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward for FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the Regionalliga Nordost, the fourth tier of German football.
Early Life
Wähling was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany. He began playing youth football with FC Neureut, later moving to Karlsruher SC at the U14 level, where he spent five years. He subsequently joined the youth system of 1899 Hoffenheim.
Club Career
Germany (2016–2024)
From 2016 to 2019, Wähling played for 1899 Hoffenheim II in the Regionalliga Südwest, making 84 appearances and scoring 13 goals. In July 2019, he signed a three-year contract with 2. Bundesliga club SSV Jahn Regensburg. He made four league appearances and one cup appearance for Regensburg, as well as nine appearances for the reserve team in the Bayernliga Süd. His contract was terminated after two seasons by mutual agreement.
In July 2021, he signed with SSV Ulm 1846, where he played for one season, making 33 league appearances and scoring 6 goals. He then moved to Energie Cottbus in July 2022, playing in the Regionalliga Nordost and scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances. After his contract expired, he went on trial with 2. Bundesliga club SV Elversberg. In August 2023, he signed with TSV Steinbach Haiger in the Regionalliga Südwest on a one-year contract.
Canada (2024–2025)
In July 2024, Wähling signed with Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League. He made his debut on 13 July 2024 against York United FC. He scored his first goal for the club in a 6–0 win in the 2025 Canadian Championship against League1 Alberta side Edmonton Scottish. Over two seasons with Cavalry FC, he made 35 league appearances, scoring 1 goal.
Return to Germany (2026–present)
In January 2026, Wähling returned to Germany, signing with FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the Regionalliga Nordost.
Personal Life
Wähling is the son of a German father and an English mother. He is one of five footballing brothers: his older brother Alexander Wähling and younger brothers Oliver, Christopher, and Jaime are also footballers.
