Definition
Nicolas Godin (born 13 January 1968) is a French musician, composer, and record producer, best known as one half of the electronic music duo Air.
Overview
Godin co‑founded Air with Jean‑Benoît Dunckel in the mid‑1990s. The pair achieved international recognition with their debut album Moon Safari (1998), which blended ambient, downtempo, and pop sensibilities and included the hit single “Sexy Boy.” Subsequent Air releases such as The Virgin Suicides (1999 soundtrack), Talkie Walkie (2004), Pocket Symphony (2007), and Music for Robots (2014) cemented the duo’s reputation for melodic electronic music.
In addition to his work with Air, Godin has contributed to film scores, collaborated with artists including Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jarvis Cocker, and Daft Punk, and produced recordings for a variety of musicians. He has also released solo material, most notably the album Love 2 (2023). Throughout his career, Godin has been noted for his use of analog synthesizers, vintage keyboards, and a production style that draws on 1970s rock, pop, and experimental music.
