Nick Chou (Chinese: 周湯豪; pinyin: Zhōu Tāngháo; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Chiu Thong-hô; born 2 August 1988) is a Taiwanese singer, rapper, songwriter, actor and DJ. He debuted in 2010 with a self‑titled album released by Warner Music Taiwan and has since released several studio albums, appeared in television dramas, and performed as a concert tour host.
Early life
Chou was born in Taipei, Taiwan, to a family active in the entertainment industry. His mother, Billie Wang (比莉), is a well‑known actress and singer, and his father, Chou Yuhou, has also worked in the media. At age eight, Chou appeared on stage with Michael Jackson during a 1996 concert tour. He began performing publicly at fourteen, featuring as a rapper on his mother’s song “誰是白癡” (“Who Is an Idiot”). At fifteen, he moved to the United States for further studies, becoming fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese Hokkien.
Music career
2008–2010: Debut
In 2009, Chou appeared in Jolin Tsai’s music video “Real Man,” gaining media attention. Warner Music Taiwan required him to attract at least 3,000 fans for a debut concert; he exceeded the target with 3,085 attendees on 10 July 2010. His debut album, Nick Chou, was released on 16 July 2010. The record featured tracks such as “Chinese Heart (附心漢)”, “Mad Love (愛瘋)”, and “Wake Up”, many of which he co‑wrote, composed, and arranged.
2011–present: Subsequent releases
Chou’s second album, S.N.G (standing for “Super Nice Girl”), was issued on 30 May 2012 by Gold Typhoon. He handled the composing, arranging, and production for the entire album, which included the title track “S.N.G”, “This Is Your Song”, and “Maji Maji” (dedicated to his mother). The album sold over 15,000 pre‑order copies before release, prompting a concert at the Legacy venue on 16 June 2012.
In October 2016, Chou released his third studio album, Real, under Sun Entertainment Culture Limited, further expanding his Mandarin pop repertoire.
Acting career
Chou made his acting debut in the CTS drama series I Love You So Much (2012), playing the male lead Chang Shao‑Feng. He contributed the ending theme “億萬分之一的機率” (“One in a Hundred Million”). Subsequent television appearances include First Kiss (2013), One and a Half Summer (2014), and Love, Timeless (2017). He also acted in the short film Full of Love (2014) and appeared in the 2015 film Gatao.
