Nicholas Lechmere (priest)

Nicholas Lechmere (c. 1613 – 1701) was an English clergyman. He served as the Rector of Hanley Child, Worcestershire, from approximately 1638 until his death.

Details about Lechmere's life are somewhat scarce. It's believed he was related to the prominent Lechmere family of Hanley Castle, Worcestershire, though the exact nature of the relationship is not definitively established. He likely received a formal education, common for clergymen of the period.

Lechmere's long tenure as Rector of Hanley Child spanned significant periods of English history, including the English Civil War, the Interregnum, and the Restoration. How he navigated these turbulent times is not fully documented. He would have been responsible for the spiritual well-being of his parish, conducting services, administering sacraments, and providing religious instruction.

His death in 1701 marked the end of a considerable period of service to the community of Hanley Child. Parish records and local historical accounts may contain further details of his life and ministry, though comprehensive biographical information remains limited.
