Nicholas Bett

Nicholas Kipchirchir Bett (15 January 1990 – 8 August 2018) was a Kenyan track and field athlete who specialised in the 400 metres hurdles.

Bett emerged as a prominent hurdler in the early 2010s, representing Kenya in international competitions. He achieved his most notable success at the 2015 World Athletics Championships in Beijing, where he won the silver medal with a personal best time of 48.29 seconds, finishing behind American athlete Kerron Clement. This performance marked the first time a Kenyan had medalled in a sprint hurdle event at the World Championships. Bett also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, reaching the semifinals of the 400 m hurdles. Over his career he recorded a personal best of 48.29 seconds, which ranks among the top performances by an African hurdler. He was a member of the Kenyan national team and trained under the guidance of coach Vincent Mumo.
