Nextbike is a bike-sharing scheme that operated in Auckland, New Zealand, from 2018 to 2020. The scheme allowed users to rent bicycles from designated stations throughout the city using a mobile app and pay per ride. Nextbike aimed to provide a convenient and sustainable transportation option for short-distance travel within Auckland, complementing existing public transport services. The initiative was a partnership between Auckland Transport and Nextbike GmbH. While operational, the bikes were available for hire 24/7, and users were able to pick up and return bikes at any official Nextbike station. The scheme was discontinued in 2020 due to operational challenges and low usage numbers.
