Nexhat Daci (born July 26, 1944, in Pristina, FPR Yugoslavia, now Kosovo) is a Kosovar Albanian politician. He is best known for having served as the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo from 2001 to 2006.
Early Life and Education Daci pursued an academic career before entering politics. He graduated with a degree in chemistry and later earned a Ph.D. in chemical sciences. For many years, he was a professor of chemistry at the University of Pristina.
Political Career Nexhat Daci became a prominent figure in Kosovar politics following the Kosovo War. He was a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), one of the largest political parties in Kosovo. In December 2001, he was elected as the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, a position he held for five years. During his tenure, Kosovo was under the administration of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), and the Assembly played a crucial role in establishing democratic institutions and preparing for eventual self-governance.
In 2006, Daci was a candidate for the President of Kosovo. Following his term as Speaker, he remained active in political life, continuing to contribute to public discourse and policy discussions within Kosovo.
