Neutral Bay ferry wharf

Neutral Bay ferry wharf is a commuter ferry terminal situated on Neutral Bay on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, serving the suburb of Neutral Bay in the jurisdiction of North Sydney Council, New South Wales, Australia. The wharf is owned by Transport for NSW and operated by Transdev Sydney Ferries under contract with the state government.

Location
The wharf is located at Hayes Street, Neutral Bay (coordinates 33°50′32″S 151°13′10″E). It lies on the eastern side of the harbour, providing direct water‑based access between Neutral Bay and other ferry destinations, most notably Circular Quay.

Physical characteristics
The facility consists of a single berth with one platform. It is fully accessible for passengers with reduced mobility and is unstaffed.

History
The original wharf, formerly known simply as Hayes Street, Neutral Bay, was closed on 20 February 2012 for demolition and reconstruction. A new, modern structure was completed and reopened on 20 August 2012.

Ferry services
Neutral Bay wharf is the terminus of the F5 Neutral Bay service, part of the Sydney Ferries network. Services are provided by First Fleet‑class vessels, operating between Neutral Bay and Circular Quay. The wharf is positioned between the preceding North Sydney wharf and the following Kurraba Point wharf on the F5 route.

A single bus route serves the wharf:

  • Route 225 – operated by Keolis Downer Northern Beaches, connecting Neutral Bay wharf with Cremorne Point wharf.

Ownership and operation
The wharf is owned by Transport for NSW. Ferry operations are contracted to Transdev Sydney Ferries, while bus services are managed by Keolis Downer Northern Beaches.
