Netechma ochrotona is a species of moth in the family Tortricidae, within the genus Netechma.
Taxonomy
The species was first described by Polish entomologist Józef Razowski and German lepidopterist Volker Pelz in 2003, based on specimens collected in Ecuador. (Some sources also attribute the authorship to Razowski & Becker, 2001.) It belongs to the tribe Euliini within the subfamily Tortricinae.
Distribution
Netechma ochrotona is found in Morona-Santiago Province, Ecuador. The type locality is recorded as Macas, General Proario, Río Jurumbaino, at an elevation of approximately 1,100 meters.
Description
As a member of the Tortricidae family, Netechma ochrotona is a small to medium-sized moth. Tortricids are commonly known as leaf-roller moths due to the larval behavior of rolling or folding leaves to create sheltered feeding sites.
