Nery Raúl Cardozo (born August 8, 1986) is an Argentine professional footballer who primarily plays as a central midfielder. Known for his versatility, passing ability, and work rate, Cardozo has had a decorated career playing for various prominent clubs in Argentina and Mexico.
Club Career
Cardozo began his career in the youth ranks of Boca Juniors, one of Argentina's most successful clubs. He made his senior debut for Boca in 2004, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the midfield. During his initial tenure with Boca Juniors, he won multiple titles, including the prestigious Copa Libertadores in 2007 and several Argentine Primera División championships. His performances for Boca showcased his potential as a dynamic midfielder capable of contributing both defensively and offensively.In 2009, Cardozo ventured into Mexican football, joining Jaguares de Chiapas. After a brief but impactful stint, he transferred to C.F. Monterrey in 2010, where he enjoyed a highly successful period. With Monterrey, he became a crucial figure, winning three consecutive CONCACAF Champions League titles (2011, 2012, 2013), which allowed the club to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup. He also secured a Mexican Primera División Apertura title in 2010. His tenure in Mexico solidified his reputation as a reliable and influential midfielder on an international club level.
Following his successful years at Monterrey, Cardozo continued to play for other Mexican clubs, including Club Tijuana. International Career
Cardozo represented the Argentina national team at various youth levels before earning his first cap for the senior Argentina national team in 2007. While his international career wasn't as extensive as his club career, he was part of the squad that competed in the 2007 Copa América, where Argentina reached the final.
