Nebraska Highway 67

Nebraska Highway 67 (often abbreviated as N-67) is a state highway in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Nebraska. It runs for approximately 25.13 miles (40.44 km) from an intersection with U.S. Route 136 (US 136) in Auburn north to an intersection with U.S. Route 34 (US 34) in Syracuse. The highway provides a north-south connection through rural agricultural areas and serves several small communities between its termini.

Route Description

N-67 begins in Auburn, the county seat of Nemaha County, at an intersection with US 136 (J Street). From this southern terminus, the highway proceeds northward, almost immediately exiting the city limits of Auburn. It traverses predominantly agricultural land, characterized by rolling hills and farmlands, as it continues through Nemaha County.

North of Auburn, N-67 passes through the small unincorporated community of Rohrs. It maintains a generally straight northerly course, crossing various local roads. As it approaches the Nemaha–Otoe county line, the landscape remains consistent with the surrounding rural environment.

Upon entering Otoe County, N-67 continues its northward trajectory. It passes to the east of the small village of Douglas, though it does not directly enter the community. The highway crosses several streams and minor tributaries as it makes its way towards its northern terminus.

N-67 reaches its northern end in the city of Syracuse, where it terminates at an intersection with US 34 (Main Street). This intersection provides connections to Lincoln to the northwest and Nebraska City to the east. The route's entire length is a two-lane undivided highway.

History

The designation of Nebraska Highway 67 has remained relatively stable in its current alignment for many decades. Like many state highways in Nebraska, it was established to connect rural communities and agricultural centers with larger U.S. routes. Its purpose has primarily been to serve local traffic and provide access to the farms and small towns in Nemaha and Otoe counties. No significant realignments or major historical events are commonly associated with this specific route.
