Nazarabad County

Nazarabad County (Persian: شهرستان نظرآباد‎, Shahrestān-e Nazarābād) is one of the counties in Alborz Province, Iran. The capital of the county is the city of Nazarabad. It was established as a separate county in 2004, having previously been part of Savojbolagh County.

Location and Geography Nazarabad County is situated in the western part of Alborz Province, bordering Qazvin Province to the west, Savojbolagh County to the east, and Eshtehard County to the south. Its geographical position places it within the greater Tehran metropolitan area's sphere of influence, though it retains a distinct local character. The terrain generally consists of plains suitable for agriculture, with some mountainous areas in the vicinity.

Demographics According to the 2016 National Census, Nazarabad County had a population of 166,244 people in 49,606 households. The population is primarily composed of various Iranian ethnic groups, with Persian speakers forming the majority. The county experiences a mix of urban and rural populations, with the city of Nazarabad being the main urban center.

History While the region has a long history, Nazarabad County itself is a relatively new administrative division, having been separated from Savojbolagh County in 2004 to streamline local governance and development.
