Nanshi District (Chinese: 南市区; pinyin: Nánshì Qū) was an administrative district of the prefecture‑level city of Baoding, in the northern Chinese province of Hebei. The district was situated in the southern part of Baoding’s urban core and comprised a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
Geography

- Borders: Adjacent to the former Beishi District to the north and the former Xinshi District to the east and west.
History
- Nanshi District was established as a separate urban district during the administrative restructuring of Baoding in the 20th century.
- On 15 May 2015, the State Council of China approved a re‑organisation of Baoding’s urban districts. Nanshi District was merged with the neighboring Beishi District to form the new Lianchi District (莲池区). Consequently, Nanshi District ceased to exist as an independent administrative unit after that date.
Administrative divisions (prior to merger) Before its dissolution, Nanshi District was subdivided into several subdistricts (街道) and communities (社区), which administered local affairs such as public services, sanitation, and neighborhood governance. Specific subdistrict names included (but were not limited to) Nanguan Subdistrict, Nanwang Subdistrict, and other local jurisdictions.
Demographics
- Population data for Nanshi District prior to its merger were included in the 2010 national census for Baoding. Exact figures for the district alone are not separately published in widely available English-language sources; demographic statistics were generally aggregated at the city or provincial level.
Economy The district’s economy centered on a combination of:

Legacy Following the 2015 merger, the former territory of Nanshi District now forms part of Lianchi District. Historical references to Nanshi District appear in older maps, governmental documents, and statistical records predating the reorganisation.
