Nanako Wakita (脇田 菜々子, Wakita Nanako; born 7 March 1997) is a Japanese women’s professional shogi player affiliated with the Japan Shogi Association (JSA). She holds the rank of women’s 1‑dan.
Early life and education
Wakita was born in Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. She graduated from the Department of Human Studies at Meijo University in 2018.
Shogi career
Wakita entered the professional shogi world under the mentorship of Shōdo Nakada (七段). She achieved professional status on 1 November 2018, receiving the badge number W‑66. Her promotion history within the women’s professional ranking system is as follows:
