The Namacurra District is a district of [[Zambezia Province]] in central [[Mozambique]]. Its administrative center is the town of Namacurra.
Geography
Namacurra District is situated in the central coastal region of Zambezia Province, bordering the [[Indian Ocean]] to the east. It is bordered by:- [[Maganja da Costa District]] to the north
- [[Nicoadala District]] and [[Quelimane District]] to the south
- [[Mocuba District]] to the west
The district's topography is generally flat, characterized by coastal plains and some low-lying areas. Several rivers flow through the district, including the Licungo River, contributing to fertile agricultural lands and extensive mangrove ecosystems along the coast. The climate is tropical, with a hot and humid rainy season and a drier, cooler season.
Demographics
According to the 2017 Mozambique Census, Namacurra District had a population of 185,160 inhabitants. The dominant ethnic group in the region is the Lomwe (eLomwe), and the most commonly spoken language is eLomwe, alongside Portuguese, the official language of Mozambique.Administration
