Myles Archibald Lyons (1823–1899) was a Mounted Police Trooper stationed at Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia. He is known for his involvement in the Burke and Wills expedition of 1860, serving as a despatch rider.
Lyons was part of the expedition from the Murray River to Cooper's Creek in September 1860. During the journey, he and fellow expedition member Alexander MacPherson became lost in the desert and were rescued by a Barkinji guide named Dick. After the two men ran desperately short of provisions and water, Dick conveyed them to the care of local Aboriginal people, then returned to camp on foot over eight days after exhausting his horse.
Lyons later served as Senior Constable at the Eltham Police Station in Victoria from 1872, replacing Peter Lawlor. His policing duties included arrests for theft, vandalism, and more serious cases such as manslaughter and murder. He retired due to ill health in 1889 and remained in Eltham until his death on 19 August 1899, aged 75. He is buried at Eltham Cemetery alongside four of his children.
