Mutant Moments is the debut extended play (EP) by American hardcore punk band Minutemen. Released in March 1980 on the New Alliance Records label, it marked the first official recording for the band and is considered a seminal work in the early development of the hardcore punk genre, particularly in Southern California.

The Minutemen, formed in San Pedro, California, in 1978, consisted of D. Boon (guitar, vocals), Mike Watt (bass, vocals), and George Hurley (drums). Mutant Moments was recorded in a single, rapid session, reflecting the band's DIY ethos and the raw energy characteristic of the nascent hardcore scene. The recording took place at Media Art Studio in Hermosa Beach, California, with Spot (known for his work with Black Flag) serving as the engineer. The EP was self-produced by the band.
The EP's sound is characterized by its brevity, aggressive tempo, and atypical song structures for the time, blending punk's urgency with experimental leanings. It laid much of the groundwork for the band's distinctive style, which would further evolve to incorporate elements of funk, jazz, and spoken word.
