Mustafa Timisi (born 1946) is a Turkish politician and civil‑society activist known for his involvement in Alevi‑Bektashi religious and political affairs. He played a prominent role in the Unity Party (Birlik Partisi), a left‑leaning political party that represented the interests of the Alevi community in Turkey during the 1960s and 1970s, and later served as the party’s chairman. Following the 1980 military coup, which led to the dissolution of the Unity Party, Timisi continued his advocacy through non‑governmental organizations, most notably as head of the Alevi Bektashi Federation (Alevi–Bektâşi Federasyonu).
Timisi was elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as a member of the Republican People’s Party (Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi, CHP) and served as a deputy during the 20th parliamentary term (1995–1999). In parliament, he focused on legislation concerning religious freedom, minority rights, and the cultural preservation of Alevi traditions.
In addition to his political career, Timisi has contributed to academic and public discourse on Alevi theology and Turkish secularism, publishing articles and participating in conferences aimed at promoting inter‑communal dialogue. His activities have positioned him as a leading figure in contemporary Alevi civil‑society movements in Turkey.
