Mukim Ukong is a mukim (sub‑district) in the Tutong District of Brunei Darussalam. It functions as an administrative division beneath the district level and comprises a number of villages (kampong).
Geography
Mukim Ukong is situated in the central part of Tutong District. The area is characterised by lowland terrain with a mix of agricultural land, forested patches, and some minor watercourses. The mukim lies inland, away from the coastal regions of Brunei.

The mukim consists of several villages, including but not necessarily limited to:
- Kampong Ukong (the eponymous village)
- Kampong Penapar
- Kampong Menirai
- Kampong Putat
Each village is administered by a village head (ketua kampung) who reports to the mukim’s penghulu (sub‑district chief).
Population
According to the 2016 national census, Mukim Ukong had a total resident population of 2,415 individuals. The population is predominantly ethnic Malay, with smaller numbers of Chinese, indigenous (e.g., Tutong) and expatriate residents. The gender distribution is roughly balanced, and the majority of inhabitants are citizens of Brunei.
Economy and livelihood
The local economy is primarily based on subsistence agriculture, small‑scale farming, and fishing. Residents cultivate rice, fruits, and vegetables for both personal consumption and modest market sale. Some households engage in livestock rearing (poultry, goats) and craft activities. Government development programmes have provided basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and clean water to the villages.
Infrastructure and services
Mukim Ukong is connected to the district centre, Pekan Tutong, by a network of paved and gravel roads. Educational facilities typically include a primary school serving the local children; secondary education is accessed in larger towns. Health services are provided through a community health centre or by travelling to the district hospital in Tutong.
Cultural and social aspects
The mukim’s villages observe national holidays and Islamic festivals, reflecting the predominantly Muslim demographic. Community gatherings, mosque activities, and local cultural events form part of the social fabric.
