Muhammad Arfan

Muhammad Arfan (born 22 January 1998) is an Indonesian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Liga 1 club PSM Makassar. He has represented Indonesia at both senior and under‑23 levels.

Early life and youth career
Arfan was born in Makassar, Indonesia. He began his football training in 2010 with the youth academy SSB Hasanudin, participating in the 2010 Danone Nations Cup. His team won the regional competition and subsequently represented South Sulawesi at the national stage, finishing third.

Club career

PSM Makassar

  • After playing in the 2016 Indonesia Soccer Championship U‑21, Arfan was promoted to the senior squad of PSM Makassar.
  • He made his professional debut on 16 April 2017 in a Liga 1 match against Persela Lamongan.
  • On 1 November 2021, he scored his first senior goal, netting the 28th minute against Persita Tangerang at Manahan Stadium, Surakarta.

As of 2 February 2026, Arfan has made 165 league appearances for PSM Makassar, scoring two goals. His overall competitive record for the club includes 188 appearances and two goals across league, cup, continental and other domestic competitions.

International career

  • Indonesia U‑23: Arfan earned his first U‑23 cap on 16 November 2017 as a substitute in a friendly against Syria U‑23.
  • Indonesia senior team: He featured in an unofficial friendly loss to Syria U‑23 on 18 November 2017 and made his official senior debut on 25 November 2017, coming on as a substitute in a match versus Guyana. He has earned one senior cap.
