Mount Snow is a ski resort located in the town of West Dover in southern Vermont, United States. The resort occupies a portion of the Green Mountains, with its summit reaching an elevation of approximately 3,600 feet (1,097 m) above sea level. The base area sits around 1,800 feet (549 m), providing a vertical drop of about 1,800 feet (549 m) for skiing and snowboarding.
History
The mountain was originally developed in the 1950s under the name "Ski Haven." In 1978, the property was purchased by the Ski Company, which renamed it Mount Snow and began expanded development, including the construction of additional lifts and terrain. In 2007, the resort was acquired by the Vail Resorts corporation, becoming part of its Epic Pass network of ski areas.
Facilities and Terrain
Mount Snow features a network of over 20 lifts, including high‑speed detachable chairlifts and a gondola. The skiable terrain comprises roughly 600 acres (2.4 km²) with a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs, as well as terrain parks that host freestyle events. The resort also provides night skiing on selected trails, a snowmaking system covering the majority of the ski area, and several on‑mountain dining locations.
Summer Operations
During the warmer months, Mount Snow operates as a destination for outdoor recreation, offering activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and scenic chairlift rides. The area includes a network of bike trails ranging from beginner to expert levels.

Mount Snow is owned and operated by Vail Resorts, Inc., a publicly traded company that manages a collection of ski resorts across North America. The resort's operations adhere to Vail Resorts' sustainability initiatives, which aim to reduce environmental impact through energy efficiency and waste reduction programs.
Access and Transportation
The resort is accessible via Vermont Route 9, approximately 20 miles (32 km) west of the city of Brattleboro and 30 miles (48 km) east of Rutland. Parking facilities are provided near the base area, and shuttle services connect the resort with nearby lodging options.
Notable Events
Mount Snow has hosted various competitive events, including United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) races and snowboard competitions. The resort has also served as a venue for the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and other regional winter sports meets.
