Morris Smith Miller (July 10, 1795 – January 31, 1846) was an American lawyer, jurist, and politician from New York. He served as a United States Representative in the 23rd and 24th Congresses (1843–1845) and held various judicial positions at the county level.
Early Life and Education
- Born in Rensselaer County, New York.
- Attended common schools and studied law, gaining admission to the bar in 1818.
Legal and Judicial Career
- Practiced law in Troy, New York.
- Appointed Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Rensselaer County, serving from 1825 to 1833.
- Later served as a judge of the New York State Supreme Court (8th District) from 1845 until his death.
Political Career
- Elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives, representing New York’s 13th congressional district.
- Served two consecutive terms (March 4, 1843 – March 3, 1845).
- While in Congress, he was a member of the Committee on Territories and the Committee on the District of Columbia.

- After leaving Congress, Miller returned to his legal practice and resumed judicial duties.
- Died on January 31, 1846, in Troy, New York, and was interred at Oakwood Cemetery.
