Montbonnot-Saint-Martin is a commune located in the Isère department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. It is situated in the Grésivaudan valley, approximately 8 kilometers northeast of Grenoble, and forms part of the Grenoble urban area.

Geography The commune covers an area of 6.38 square kilometers and is positioned at the foot of the Chartreuse Mountains. It is bordered by the communes of Saint-Ismier to the northeast, Meylan to the southwest, and Domène to the south across the Isère river.
