Monshizu Station

Monshizu Station (門静駅, Monshizu-eki) is a railway station located in the city of Saijo, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the Shikoku Railway Company (JR Shikoku) and serves the Yosan Line. The station is characterized by its rural setting and basic facilities, primarily serving local residents.

Layout

The station consists of a single side platform serving one track. There is no station building; instead, a small shelter is provided for passengers. The station is unstaffed, and tickets must be purchased from the conductor on the train or from major stations. Access to the platform is at ground level.

Services

Only local trains on the Yosan Line stop at Monshizu Station. Limited express trains pass through without stopping. Services are infrequent, particularly during off-peak hours.

History

Monshizu Station opened on February 1, 1961, as an unstaffed halt on the then-Japanese National Railways (JNR) Yosan Line. Following the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987, the station came under the control of JR Shikoku.

Surrounding Area

The station is situated in a rural area, surrounded by agricultural fields and residential homes. There are no major commercial establishments or tourist attractions immediately adjacent to the station. The Seto Inland Sea coast is relatively close by.
