Miss South Africa 2017 was the 58th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects South Africa’s representative for international contests such as Miss Universe and Miss World. The competition was held on 25 March 2017 at the Sun City International Convention Centre in the North West Province of South Africa. The event was broadcast live on television and streamed online.

- Zozibini Tunzi (Eastern Cape) – crowned Miss South Africa 2017 by outgoing titleholder Rolene Strauss. Tunzi later represented South Africa at Miss Universe 2019, where she won the international title.

Significance
Zozibini Tunzi’s victory was noted for her emphasised advocacy on gender equality and her promotion of natural beauty standards, notably her short, curly hair, which contrasted with previous winners’ conventional styling. Her subsequent Miss Universe win in 2019 marked the first time a South African had secured that title since 1974.
Aftermath
Following her coronation, Tunzi embarked on a national speaking tour, focusing on anti‑bullying campaigns and women’s empowerment programs. She also fulfilled the responsibilities of Miss South Africa, including public appearances, charitable engagements, and preparation for the Miss Universe competition.
