Minhajul Abedin Ballu (full name: Minhajul Abedin Rakib; born 16 September 2001) is a Bangladeshi professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Bangladesh Premier League club Mohammedan SC.
Early Career
Ballu began his football career at Arambagh Football Academy under coach Ibrahim Khalil Kala. He played in the Dhaka Third Division Football League in 2015 with The Muslim Institute.
Club Career
He made his Premier League debut with Farashganj SC during the 2017–18 Bangladesh Premier League season. He subsequently played for Brothers Union (2018–19) and Muktijoddha Sangsad (2019–2021) before joining Mohammedan SC in 2021.
In August 2023, Ballu played three matches as a guest player for Bangladesh Army in the 2023 Durand Cup. On 2 February 2024, he scored the only goal in Mohammedan SC's victory over Bashundhara Kings at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, becoming the first player to defeat Kings at their home ground. He was named Man of the Match for that performance.
International Career
Ballu captained Bangladesh at the U14 level during the AFC U-14 Championship 2014 qualifiers in Myanmar. He was part of the Bangladesh U16 team that won the 2015 SAFF U-16 Championship, scoring in a 4–0 group stage victory over Sri Lanka U16. He also represented Bangladesh U16 during the 2016 AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers.
