Minehead Without

Minehead Without was a civil parish in the county of Somerset, England. It was established in 1894 following the implementation of the Local Government Act 1894, which required the division of parishes that were situated partly within and partly outside an urban district.

The ancient parish of Minehead was divided into two distinct entities: the urban area became the Minehead Urban District (sometimes referred to as Minehead Within), and the rural portion became the civil parish of Minehead Without. Administratively, Minehead Without was part of the Williton Rural District.

The parish encompassed the rural hinterland surrounding the town of Minehead, situated near the coast of the Bristol Channel and the eastern edge of Exmoor. According to historical census data, the parish recorded a population of 257 in 1931.

The civil parish of Minehead Without was abolished on April 1, 1933. Under a county review order, the majority of its territory was incorporated into the expanded parish and urban district of Minehead. Smaller portions of the former parish were transferred to the neighboring civil parishes of Selworthy and Wootton Courtenay.
