Minco is a city located in Grady County in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city had a population of 1,520 at the time of the 2020 census.

Geography
Minco lies in south‑central Oklahoma, approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of the city of Oklahoma City. The city is situated at an elevation of about 1,210 feet (370 m) above sea level and is traversed by State Highway 9 and State Highway 76. The surrounding area consists primarily of rolling prairie and agricultural land.

History
The land on which Minco now stands was originally part of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Indian Reservation. Following the opening of the reservation to non‑Native settlement in the Land Run of 1891, settlers began to move into the region. The town was platted in 1900 when the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad constructed a line through the area. It was incorporated as a municipality in 1901.

The name “Minco” is believed to be derived from a Wichita word meaning “chief” or “big water,” though the precise etymology is not definitively documented.
