Milan is a village located in Cibola County, New Mexico, United States. It is situated adjacent to the city of Grants and is part of the Grants Micropolitan Statistical Area.
According to the 2020 United States Census, the population of Milan was 2,456. The village covers a total area of approximately 4.4 square miles and sits at an elevation of about 6,600 feet above sea level. It was officially incorporated in 1957 and was named after Salvador Milan, a local landowner who developed the area during the mid-20th century.
The village's development and historical economy were significantly influenced by the regional uranium mining boom that occurred in the nearby Ambrosia Lake area between the 1950s and the 1980s. Geographically, Milan is positioned along the Interstate 40 corridor and the former path of U.S. Route 66. The municipal government is organized under a mayor-council system.
