The Mikrus MR-300 was a Polish microcar manufactured between 1957 and 1960. It was one of the few attempts at mass-producing a passenger car in post-war Poland, intended to provide affordable personal transportation. The name "Mikrus" derives from "small" or "tiny."
The Mikrus was a two-seater vehicle powered by a two-stroke, two-cylinder engine. Production was handled by two different aircraft factories: WSK Mielec and WSK Rzeszów, leading to some variations in the vehicles produced. Despite the initial ambition, the Mikrus was not a commercial success. Factors contributing to its limited success included relatively high production costs, limited availability due to planned economy shortcomings, and a perception of poor quality compared to more established automobiles.
The Mikrus MR-300 is now considered a significant artifact of Polish automotive history, representing a unique chapter in the country's industrial development during the Cold War era. Surviving examples are sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of vintage cars.
